Drive time from Fort Wright to our office

About 8.5 road miles, 14 to 20 minutes depending on traffic. We're at 5302 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051, on Madison Pike (KY 17 Business) in the middle of town, a short distance from the Kenton County Courthouse. Fort Wright has an unusually simple trip to us, because Madison Pike runs from your side of the hills straight into ours. No interstate leg. No county line. Kenton County the whole way.

From the Fort Wright City Building or Fort Wright Elementary, you're at the near end of that range. From the Highland Pike side, allow a few more minutes for the lights along the Kroger and Walmart stretch before Madison Pike opens up. Kenton Vale and Latonia are next door and use the same road; from Latonia, Winston Avenue (KY 16) leads to Madison Pike.

Same-day emergency dental care for Fort Wright patients

Monday and Wednesday we see patients from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM; Tuesday and Thursday we run until 6:00 PM, starting at 9:00 AM. Three same-day emergency slots are held each open day, at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Phone when we open, say what hurts, and the front desk assigns you one. If a day fills before you call, you're held the first opening on the next day we're in.

Walk-ins aren't accepted. Call first. Parking is on site.

A same-day visit starts with the exam and the X-rays. When the picture is clear and the tooth allows it, treatment follows in the same chair. That includes tracing and treating severe tooth pain, an emergency tooth extraction when a tooth can't be kept, and draining a dental abscess so the infection behind it can be cleared.

What an emergency dental visit costs for Fort Wright patients

For patients paying without insurance, the $89 covers the emergency exam and the X-rays needed to diagnose the tooth. Any treatment is priced on its own and handed to you in writing before we start.

We take PPO dental insurance and most traditional dental insurance plans. If you carry PPO or traditional dental insurance, the exam and X-rays go on your plan instead. Call with your card handy and we check before you arrive. Cherry, LendingClub and CareCredit are available for treatment costs. Our cost and insurance page lays all of this out.

  • From Highland Pike, or the Kroger and Walmart along the Madison Pike corridor: you're already on the right road. Point south on Madison Pike and keep going.

After hours for Fort Wright patients

We're closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The phone isn't. Call (859) 555-0147 whatever the hour. A real person picks up: our front desk while the office is open, an answering service once we've gone home. Either one takes your name, a number to reach you at and a word about the tooth, then holds the first opening for you. After a Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday or Sunday call, that opening is Monday at 9:00 AM. After a Monday evening call, it's Tuesday at 9:00 AM. For the hours in between, lean on our weekend and after-hours page.

A few things shouldn't wait on us. If swelling is working its way toward the eye or down the side of the neck, if it's getting hard to swallow or breathe, or if you believe the jaw is broken, go to an emergency room tonight. The nearest hospital emergency room to our office is St. Elizabeth Edgewood on Medical Village Drive. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. Later, with the danger passed, the tooth comes to us.

Emergency dental services for Fort Wright families

After a collision at Meinken Park, a knocked-out tooth belongs back in its socket or in a cup of milk while the player heads our way. A broken tooth gets an edge smoothed, a filling, or a crown if the tooth can be kept. Wisdom tooth pain is looked at the day you call, and when the tooth has to come out, wisdom tooth extraction happens here. An infected tooth that can be saved gets an emergency root canal. A lost filling or crown is replaced or re-cemented.

Fort Wright, Kenton Vale and Latonia are all on our service area page, along with every other community we serve.

Frequently asked questions

I live off Kyles Lane. Is Madison Pike really the whole route?

Yes. Kyles Lane (KY 1072 / KY 3187) brings you to Madison Pike (KY 17), and from there you turn south and stay on it. The road widens to four lanes as a bypass, then KY 17 Business takes you through the center of Independence. Our office is on that business route. Count on 14 to 20 minutes.

Can I come straight from Holmes High School in Latonia?

You can. From Ritte's Corner, take Winston Avenue (KY 16) to Madison Pike (KY 17) and head south. Before you leave, call (859) 555-0147 so a same-day slot has your name on it; walk-ins can't be seen. If the injury happened at a Friday night game, we're closed, and the first opening is Monday at 9:00 AM.

It's 7:00 PM on a Thursday and my tooth is throbbing. What are my choices?

Call us anyway. The answering service picks up, notes your details and reserves Monday at 9:00 AM, the first time our dentists are back in. A cold compress and over-the-counter pain relief can help until then. Swelling toward the eye or neck, a fever, or trouble swallowing means a hospital emergency room tonight, not Monday.
