Plan on 13 to 20 minutes. Same-day emergency appointments run Monday through Thursday. Call (859) 555-0147 first and we hold your time.

What's the drive from Walton to our office?
About eight road miles, 13 to 20 minutes depending on the hour. We're at 5302 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051, on Madison Pike (KY 17 Business) in the middle of Independence, a short distance from the Kenton County Courthouse and the Independence City Building. Walton is across the county line in Boone County, southwest of us, and the two towns are tied together by Walton Nicholson Pike (KY 16).
That pike is nearly the whole trip. Head east on it out of Walton, and when it meets Madison Pike (KY 17), turn north. Madison Pike carries you the rest of the way into Independence. If you're already on I-75, exit 171 puts you at the Walton interchange, and from there the same KY 16 to KY 17 route begins.
Same-day emergency dental care for Walton patients
Monday and Wednesday we're here from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tuesday and Thursday we stay until 6:00 PM. Each open day holds three emergency slots, at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and they're filled by phone in the order people call. The 3:00 PM slot and the later Tuesday and Thursday hours give you room to get off work and make the drive.
Call before you come. We don't take walk-ins. The front desk tells you which slot is yours while you're still in Walton.
The exam and X-rays come first. Treatment follows the same day whenever the diagnosis allows. A tooth cracked below the gum comes out with an emergency tooth extraction. A pocket of pus at the root is a dental abscess, drained and cleaned out at that appointment. Have your insurance card and medication list with you.
What an emergency dental visit costs for Walton patients
Patients paying without insurance pay $89 for the emergency exam and the X-rays that go with it. Whatever the tooth needs beyond the diagnosis is priced on its own, written down and shown to you before any work begins.
PPO dental insurance and most traditional dental insurance plans are accepted here. If you're on a PPO or traditional dental plan, we bill that plan for the exam and X-rays. Call with your card handy and we check before you arrive. Cherry, LendingClub and CareCredit are available for treatment costs. The complete rundown is on the cost and insurance page.

After hours for Walton patients
Thursday at 6:00 PM is the last chair time of our week. We're closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so the next opening after Thursday evening is Monday at 9:00 AM. The phone is answered around the clock, every day. Call (859) 555-0147 after a Walton-Verona game on Friday night, or on Sunday morning, and a real person writes down your name, number and symptoms, then holds the Monday 9:00 AM time for you. Monday-night callers get Tuesday at 9:00 AM. Our weekend and after-hours page has what to do about the pain until we see you.
A few symptoms belong at a hospital: swelling that has reached the eye or is working down the neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a jaw that may be broken. From Walton, St. Elizabeth Florence at 4900 Houston Road is up I-75; the emergency room nearest our office is St. Elizabeth Edgewood, 1 Medical Village Drive in Edgewood. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. Once that's handled, we take care of the tooth.
Emergency dental services for Walton families
A Walton-Verona athlete who loses a tooth at a weekday practice should get it into milk and have someone call us from the sideline; a knocked-out tooth can often be put back and splinted the same day. A front tooth chipped on the playground at Walton Community Park gets broken tooth repair at a same-day visit. A back tooth that throbs when you lie down is a toothache we trace on the X-ray, and an emergency root canal saves it when the nerve is the trouble. Wisdom tooth pain is checked the day you call; when extraction is the answer, wisdom tooth extraction is done here. A crown that comes off while you're walking the Walton Nature Trail is re-cemented through our lost filling or crown visit.
Walton is one of the eight communities our service area page lists.
Frequently asked questions
Should I take I-75 or Walton Nicholson Pike from Walton?
The interstate doesn't reach Independence, so it only helps if you're already on it. Exit 171 drops you at the Walton interchange, and from there the route is Walton Nicholson Pike (KY 16) east, then Madison Pike (KY 17) north, the same as from downtown Walton. Either way, count on 13 to 20 minutes and call ahead so your slot is held.
We live in Boone County. Does that matter for your office?
No. The county line makes no difference to us. Walton patients get the same three same-day slots as anyone in Kenton County, and the same $89 exam and X-rays when paying without insurance. Call (859) 555-0147 and the front desk checks your plan before you leave Walton.
My kid got hit in the mouth at a Friday-night game. What now?
Call us that night. The answering service holds the Monday 9:00 AM opening. If the tooth came all the way out, keep it in milk and don't scrub the root. If it's chipped, save the piece. Bleeding that won't stop, a jaw that may be broken or swelling that spreads means the hospital first; the tooth itself is ours on Monday.
