Florence to our office: how far is it?
About 8 miles, and 16 to 24 minutes depending on the hour. We're at 5302 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051, on Madison Pike (KY 17 Business) in the middle of town, a short distance from the Kenton County Courthouse. Florence is over in Boone County, and the road changes as you go: wide commercial lanes around Mall Road at the start, then two-lane pike and hills once Mount Zion Road turns into Bristow Road.
From the Florence Y'all water tower, you're near the middle of that range. If you start out past Burlington Pike (KY 18), your first job is getting over to Dixie Highway.
Same-day emergency dental care for Florence patients
We're open Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM on Tuesday and Thursday. On each of those days we hold same-day emergency slots at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Call when we open and tell the front desk what's going on; one of those times is yours. If all three are taken by the time you reach us, you're given the first opening on the next day we're in.
We don't take walk-ins. Call first, every time. Parking is on site.
The visit covers the exam, the X-rays and, when the diagnosis allows, treatment in the same sitting. A severe toothache is traced to its cause and treated. Emergency extractions, both simple and surgical, happen in our office. A dental abscess is drained and the infection cleaned out.
What an emergency dental visit costs for Florence patients
The exam and the X-rays needed to diagnose the tooth are $89 for patients paying without insurance. Treatment is charged separately, and the figure is put in writing before we start anything.
We accept PPO dental insurance and most traditional dental insurance plans. If yours is a PPO or traditional dental plan, the exam and X-rays get billed to it. Call with your card handy and we check before you arrive. Cherry, LendingClub and CareCredit are options for treatment costs. Our cost and insurance page picks up anything this leaves out.
Getting here from Florence
- From the Florence Y'all water tower or Florence Mall: Dixie Highway (US 25) south to Mount Zion Road (KY 536). Turn east. Mount Zion Road becomes Bristow Road, which brings you to Independence Road (KY 2045) and into town. We're on Madison Pike in the center of Independence.
- From Boone County High School or the Florence Government Center: work over to Dixie Highway and follow the route above.
- From Turfway Road (KY 1017) or Burlington Pike (KY 18): head for Dixie Highway (US 25) first, then south to Mount Zion Road and east.
- By interstate, from UC Health Stadium or Houston Road: I-75 south to exit 171 at Walton, then Walton Nicholson Pike (KY 16) east and Madison Pike (KY 17) north into Independence.
After hours for Florence patients
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday the office stays closed, yet the phone is staffed 24/7. In office hours that's our front desk; the rest of the time an answering service picks up for us. Call (859) 555-0147 the moment the tooth starts. Whoever answers writes down your name, a number to reach you and what's going on, then holds the first opening for you. After a Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday or Sunday call, that opening is Monday at 9:00 AM. After a Monday evening call, it's Tuesday at 9:00 AM. For the hours in between, our weekend and after-hours page walks you through it.
Some problems can't wait for Monday. A jaw you suspect is broken, swelling that's creeping toward your eye or along your neck, or any difficulty swallowing or breathing: those belong in an emergency room tonight. For Florence patients, that's St. Elizabeth Florence at 4900 Houston Road, about 11 miles from Independence. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. Afterward, the tooth is our job.
Emergency dental services for Florence families
A knocked-out tooth from a Boone County High School game or a fall at Stringtown Park needs to go back in its socket or into a cup of milk, with the player on the way to us. A broken tooth from a slip at the Florence Aquatic Center gets its edge smoothed, a filling, or a crown if the tooth can be kept. We examine wisdom tooth pain the day you call, and when the tooth has to come out, we do the wisdom tooth extraction here as well. An infected tooth that needs an emergency root canal is treated in our office. A lost filling or crown is replaced or re-cemented.
Florence is one of two Boone County communities on our service area page, along with Walton.
Frequently asked questions
I'm near Florence Mall. Should I take Dixie Highway or I-75?
Both work. Dixie Highway (US 25) south to Mount Zion Road (KY 536), then east on Bristow Road and Independence Road (KY 2045), is the direct route. I-75 south to exit 171 at Walton, then KY 16 east and KY 17 north, is the other. Traffic on the day decides. Plan on 16 to 24 minutes.
Can I handle the call in Spanish?
Yes. Monday through Thursday, during office hours, members of our staff speak Spanish, so you can describe the problem and ask about cost in Spanish when you call (859) 555-0147. This site is also available in Spanish, starting at the Spanish home page.
My son's tooth got knocked out at a Friday night game. What now?
If you can, set the tooth back into the socket, root first, and don't scrub it. If it won't go, keep it in milk. Then call (859) 555-0147. We're closed Friday through Sunday, so the answering service holds Monday at 9:00 AM. A jaw injury or bleeding that won't stop means the emergency room first.
