Edgewood to our office: miles and minutes

About 10 road miles, and 17 to 25 minutes depending on traffic. We're at 5302 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051, on Madison Pike (KY 17 Business) in the center of town, a short distance from the Kenton County Courthouse. Edgewood sits up near I-275, and the trip is mostly one road: once you reach Madison Pike (KY 17), you follow it south until the four-lane bypass gives way to the business route through town.

From Edgewood City Hall or Dixie Heights High School, expect the middle of that range. Crestview Hills (16 to 24 minutes) and Lakeside Park (17 to 25 minutes) are next door and use the same roads.

Same-day emergency dental care for Edgewood patients

Monday and Wednesday we're open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tuesday and Thursday we stay until 6:00 PM. On every open day, three emergency slots are kept back at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Describe what's wrong to the front desk and one of them is yours. When all three have gone, you're given the first opening on the next day we're in.

We don't take walk-ins. Call first. Parking is on site.

The appointment opens with the exam and the X-rays needed to find the cause. Treatment follows in the same visit when the diagnosis allows. A severe toothache is traced and treated. A tooth that can't be saved comes out, simple or surgical, with an emergency extraction. An abscess gets drained and the infection cleaned out.

What an emergency dental visit costs for Edgewood patients

The emergency exam and the X-rays needed to diagnose the tooth are $89 for patients paying without insurance. Treatment is priced on its own, and the written quote is in your hands before anything begins.

After hours for Edgewood patients

Friday, Saturday and Sunday the office is closed, but someone real still answers the phone at any hour: our front desk in office hours, an answering service after that. Call (859) 555-0147 the moment the tooth turns serious. The person who answers takes your name, number and a short description, and holds you the first opening. After a Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday or Sunday call, that opening is Monday at 9:00 AM. After a Monday evening call, it's Tuesday at 9:00 AM. How to get through the wait is laid out on our weekend and after-hours page.

Edgewood has the hospital emergency room closest to our office right in town: St. Elizabeth Edgewood on Medical Village Drive. Go there tonight if swelling is climbing toward the eye or heading down the neck, if you're struggling to swallow or breathe, or if you think the jaw is broken. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. Once the emergency is under control, the tooth is our job; call us then.

Emergency dental services for Edgewood families

A tooth knocked loose on the Dixie Heights field or at Freedom Park is the kind of problem we can see the same day, Monday through Thursday. A knocked-out tooth is put back and splinted when it can be saved, if it reaches us quickly, in the socket or in milk. A broken or chipped tooth gets a smoothed edge, a filling or, if the tooth can be kept, a crown. We look at wisdom tooth pain on the day of your call, and if the tooth has to go, wisdom tooth extraction is handled in our office. A badly infected tooth that can still be saved gets an emergency root canal. A lost filling or crown is replaced or re-cemented.

Edgewood, Crestview Hills and Lakeside Park are all listed on our service area page, with miles and minutes for each.

Frequently asked questions

Is I-275 or Dudley Pike faster from Edgewood?

It depends on where in Edgewood you start and what the interstate is doing. From the Dudley Pike side, Dudley Pike to Madison Pike (KY 17) and south is simple and skips the interchange. From the Turkeyfoot Road side, I-275 east to exit 80 and KY 17 south is the natural route. Both land in the 17 to 25 minute range.

I was just at the St. Elizabeth Edgewood emergency room for a swollen face. Do I still need you?

Yes, in most cases. The hospital handles the infection and the swelling. The tooth that caused it still needs to be treated, with a root canal or an extraction, or the problem comes back. Call (859) 555-0147 as soon as you're home and we hold you the first open slot, Monday through Thursday.

Can I bring my teenager from Dixie Heights straight after school?

Yes, on a Monday through Thursday. Our 3:00 PM same-day slot is the one that fits an after-school drive, and on Tuesday and Thursday we're here until 6:00 PM. Call (859) 555-0147 earlier in the day so the slot is held; we don't take walk-ins.
